Vinyl Daze Record Fairs: South West and South Wales
Dates and hours verified on 28/10/2026 on the official site.
Vinyl Daze organises record and CD fairs across the South West of England and South Wales. Most run from 10am to 3pm and cost £1 to enter. Gloucester runs 10am to 5pm, and the Hay-on-Wye fairs run 10am to 4pm and are free.
Which fair to pick
Ian Fiddes, who runs Vinyl Daze, recommends Newport for anyone coming from abroad: it is in the city centre, easy by public transport, and usually has around 15 sellers. In 2027 it takes place on Sunday 31 January and Sunday 25 July at The Dolman Theatre, Emlyn Walk, NP20 1HY. Cardiff is a little smaller; its fairs are held at St Mary's Church Hall, Church Road, Whitchurch, CF14 2EA, on 10 January, 25 April, 12 September and 12 December 2027.
What you'll find
Almost every genre, says Ian, apart from classical, easy listening and country and western. His own stall is strong on reggae and soul 45s.

Five records to look for
We can't tell you what will be on the tables, but these are worth stopping for if you see them. Pressing details are from Discogs.
Their fourth album, and the first with lyrics entirely in Welsh. It came out on the band's own label after Creation collapsed, was mostly recorded at Ofn Studios on Anglesey, and reached number 11 in the UK, the first Welsh-language album to enter the top 20. "Mwng" means mane. The original UK vinyl is on white vinyl, in a screen-printed clear PVC sleeve with a 12-inch insert.
Stevens, from Solva in Pembrokeshire, is sometimes called the Welsh Bob Dylan. Outlander was a one-off English-language album for Warner Bros., and the original comes with a lyric insert. Collectors want it far more than they have it: on 28 October 2026, 549 Discogs users wanted it and 143 owned it. There is a 2016 reissue on Numero Group.
A psychedelic folk record, the band's third album and their last for Ankst, with Anthony Saffery of Cornershop on sitar. It comes in a gatefold sleeve, and the runout is etched "ANKST 059-A1" and "B1". Some copies came with an insert reproducing the front and back cover.
The first record by the Cardiff trio of Burke Shelley, Tony Bourge and Ray Phillips: blues-based hard rock, recorded at Rockfield and produced by Rodger Bain, who also produced Black Sabbath. Metallica later covered two of their songs, "Breadfan" and "Crash Course in Brain Surgery". The first pressing has red/pink labels, a laminated front sleeve and a polylined Decca inner sleeve with blue print. A 1972 UK repress carries the same catalogue number, so check the labels.
Recorded at Sound Techniques in London with Joe Boyd producing, with Sandy Denny, Richard Thompson and Dave Swarbrick, after a motorway accident had killed their drummer Martin Lamble. It includes "Matty Groves" and "Tam Lin", and is often called the first major British folk-rock album, though that claim is disputed. In 2002 BBC Radio 2 listeners voted it the most important folk album of all time. The first pressing has a white "i" on the pink Island label, in an unlaminated two-part gatefold.
