È il secondo giradischi, quello serio. Hai iniziato con un Audio-Technica LP60 o simile, ti sei innamorato del vinile, e adesso vuoi il primo apparecchio vero — quello che ti terrai per anni. Intorno ai cinquecento euro, due nomi tornano sempre: il Fluance RT85 e il Pro-Ject Debut EVO 2. E sono due filosofie opposte.
Il Fluance è "più ferro subito": ti mette in casa una Ortofon 2M Blue e un piatto acrilico di serie, cioè componenti che di solito si comprano come upgrade. Il Pro-Ject è "marchio ed ecosistema": un braccio in carbonio, un suono accordato con cura, e alle spalle decenni di reputazione e una strada d'upgrade infinita. Uno ti dà più hardware oggi; l'altro ti dà un sistema in cui crescere. La scelta è tutta qui.
It is the second turntable, the serious one. You started with an Audio-Technica LP60 or the like, you fell for vinyl, and now you want the first real machine — the one you will keep for years. Around five hundred euros, two names keep coming back: the Fluance RT85 and the Pro-Ject Debut EVO 2. And they are two opposite philosophies.
The Fluance is "more hardware now": it puts an Ortofon 2M Blue and an acrylic platter in your home as standard, components you usually buy as upgrades. The Pro-Ject is "brand and ecosystem": a carbon tonearm, a carefully voiced sound, and behind it decades of reputation and an endless upgrade path. One gives you more hardware today; the other gives you a system to grow in. That is the whole choice.

Sulla carta il Fluance parte avvantaggiato: monta di serie una Ortofon 2M Blue, una testina che da sola vale una fetta importante del prezzo e che di norma si compra come upgrade. Con il piatto acrilico e uno wow/flutter dichiarato dello 0,07%, il suono è dettagliato, dinamico e pulito. È "più testina" per gli stessi soldi.
On paper the Fluance starts ahead: it ships with an Ortofon 2M Blue, a cartridge that alone is worth a large slice of the price and that people usually buy as an upgrade. With the acrylic platter and a quoted 0.07% wow/flutter, the sound is detailed, dynamic and clean. It is "more cartridge" for the same money.
Il Pro-Ject risponde con il carattere. La sua Pick it MM EVO, co-progettata con Ortofon, è meno blasonata della 2M Blue, ma è accordata sul braccio in carbonio — ed è quel braccio, rigido e leggero, a fare la differenza. La stampa specializzata (Hi-Fi Choice, tra le altre) trova l'EVO 2 tra i più musicali e meglio misurati della fascia: un suono ricco, coeso, coinvolgente. Più testina contro più musica: qui è pari.
The Pro-Ject answers with character. Its Pick it MM EVO, co-designed with Ortofon, is less celebrated than the 2M Blue, but it is tuned to the carbon tonearm — and it is that arm, stiff and light, that makes the difference. The specialist press (Hi-Fi Choice among others) finds the EVO 2 among the most musical and best-measured in the class: a rich, cohesive, engaging sound. More cartridge against more music: here it is a draw.

Il Pro-Ject non è da meno, e su un punto è persino superiore: il braccio in carbonio monopezzo da 8,6 pollici, con il bearing preso dal Debut PRO B, è meccanicamente più raffinato di un braccio in alluminio. Il piatto in alluminio pressofuso da 1,7 kg con smorzamento TPE è pesante e inerte. Ma il pacchetto complessivo di piatto e isolamento, qui, va di misura al Fluance.
The Pro-Ject is no slouch, and on one point it is even superior: the 8.6-inch one-piece carbon tonearm, with the bearing taken from the Debut PRO B, is mechanically more refined than an aluminium arm. The 1.7 kg die-cast aluminium platter with TPE damping is heavy and inert. But the overall platter-and-isolation package, here, goes narrowly to the Fluance.

The Fluance is what it is: an excellent finished turntable. You can change the cartridge (the mount is standard), but beyond that there is no structured growth path — no family of platters, arms and accessories designed to move up. You buy well once, and there you stop.
